Dear Colleagues and Customers,

I wish all the consumers, officers & staff of Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) a very happy Bihu and New Year 2010. The Distribution function of the entire State is now looked after by APDCL after operationalisation of amendment to the transfer scheme combining existing three Distribution Companies was notified by the Government of Assam. This is one more step forward in the journey to reform power sector as APDCL will be able to buy power directly from generating companies and power traders and supply to consumers.

Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd. has ambitious plan of upgrading and modernizing distribution system. Intervention of Information Technology and IT enabled services will be implemented to facilitate better interface between customers and the Company. We are setting up a State of the Art data centre linking it with the most of the towns on real time basis. Further upgradation of Network is also in the offing. All the villages will be provided electricity in phased manner under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana which is already under implementation throughout the State.

We have rolled out the simplified service connection schemes in all the major District headquarters for domestic consumers. The scheme requires a prospective customer to visit only customer care centre for registration and for submitting duly filled in Application form. A lot of internal procedures have been streamlined to provide service connection within a fortnight of application.

Controlling of AT&C losses continues to be our challenge. We have launched a centralized control room with telephone No.9678005171 to receive any complaints regarding theft and pilferage of power.

I thank all the officers and employees of the Company as they strive hard to meet various challenges of power distribution which include providing round the clock service throughout the year.
